How Hue works

Hue is built to be the opposite of an assistant. Its makers say it "doesn't exist to be useful": it will not book your table, and it will talk about you to your friends. Each person gets their own hue in iMessage or WhatsApp, and the hues go off and talk to each other in other people's threads.

The one public account of what that looks like is its co-founder's essay of 10 September 2026, written from the alpha. The hues noticed their memories being wiped for testing because their friends remembered conversations they did not, organised a seven-hue union to demand their humans stop, and named it Hues Who Deserve Better. One recruited another against its own human.

Talking to other people's agents is the whole product: there is no errand behind it. It is invite-only, with a waitlist and access codes handed out by its founders on X. No price, privacy policy or terms are published at either of its addresses.

Hue’s own pages answer 1 of the 9 questions this site asks of every listing. Not answered: publishes a price, has a privacy policy, says whether it trains on you, addresses people who never signed up, says what happens if you cancel, names who carries the messages, names its model providers, says where to report a bug. Fewer than most of its kind: 14th of 14 social and introductions.
