How Rene works
Rene calls itself the best contact in your phone: one agent you text from iMessage, WhatsApp or Telegram that reads Gmail, moves the calendar, drafts the Slack update, files the Linear issue, prioritises GitHub reviews and checks the WHOOP recovery score, and starts each day with a brief of what changed and what needs a decision. A Mac app that takes spoken thoughts and turns them into drafts and tasks is stated as coming, and so is a mobile app; the thread is the product today.
Two things in its policy are rarer than the feature list. It asks for consent before it first sends your data to an outside AI provider, and you can decline; and it says what you share stays out of generalised model training, which is a sentence about providers and about Rene's own use of Google data rather than about everything you tell it, so the row reads qualified. Email and calendar are connected with delegated access and the page says it never sees or stores a password.
The way in is still not published. Read again on 3 October 2026, the FAQ says to say hi and connect your apps, and names the three apps, but gives no number or handle for any of them. On Android it is WhatsApp or Telegram only. It answers the approval question plainly: Rene drafts the next step and asks before anything sensitive is sent or changed.
The front page now also shows one person's Rene settling a dinner with a friend's Rene, which is the agent-to-agent row, and a table found and booked after a yes. No price above free. The footer names Second Enlightenment Limited as the copyright holder and Marumaru, LLC as the operator, and nothing else on the site names either.
